English Language Requirements

All students must have the required English Language proficiency with regards to the course. Depending on the University IELTS Score of 5.5 to 6.5 is required for Undergrad Programs and 6.0 to 6.5 is required for Post Grad Programs. TOEFL score of 79 to 100 is required respectively.

Post Graduate/ Master’s Degree: The duration of Masters level courses may range from a year to two depending on the university and the area of specialization. Documents required for a US student visa:

After receiving an I-20, you must use it in one of two ways to obtain F-1 status:

  • Use the I-20 to obtain an F-1 visa from a US consulate, and then enter the US with the F-1 visa and I-20 to be admitted in F-1 status by DHS at the port-of-entry
  • If you are already in the United States in another non-immigrant category, use the I-20 to apply to USCIS for a change of status from one non-immigrant category to F-1 status.

Gather and prepare the following required documents before your visa interview:

  • A passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your stay in the United States.
  • Confirmation page for Non-immigrant Visa Application Form DS-160

  • You must submit an online visa application using Form DS-160.
  • To bring to your interview, print the application confirmation page.
  • Photo – You will upload your photo while filling out Form DS-160 online.
  • Receipt for application fee payment
  • Form I-20 – Once you have submitted all of the required documentation, UTRGV will send you a SEVIS-generated Form I-20. The Form I-20 will be signed by both you and your DSO. If you are bringing dependents, each person is given a separate Form I-20.
